I love caring for newborns, toddlers, and young children because I thoroughly enjoy the learning that takes place during that time. I encourage children to learn self-sufficient habits which promote self-confidence, along with an eagerness to learn. I find teachable moments during cooking, cleaning, play dates, as well as sibling rivalry.
Day to day activities often include that of a personal assistant and may include doctor and vet appointments, grocery shopping, dry cleaner runs, email communications, phone calls, texts, and sometimes a long visit with mom after a busy day. I can create or follow a flexible schedule to accommodate the family needs, yet give structure to the child appropriate for their age and developmental needs. I'm intelligent and will clearly communicate both the important childhood markers as well as the daily events of your child's life. At "my" children's request, I have attended their sports events, birthday parties, recitals, and even vacations because they wanted to share their special events with me. I hope to find a long term position because I want us to have an opportunity to maintain the close bond we share for years.
I do have formal training, as well as many years of experience. I studied child development, psychology and education in my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Texas and Texas A&M University. I have cared for children as young as 10 days old, as well as 2 sets of twins. I am versed in the Montessori method and many other teaching methods. I follow the parent's requests first, my own expertise next, and always temper any action with an understanding of the child.
I have experience with children with autism, ADHD, social and behavioral issues.
I have previously been certified in Infant and Child CPR.
I don't smoke nor abuse drugs or alcohol.
I have provided tutoring services and can help your older children with their homework. Alphabet, letters, colors, shapes, days, months, numbers, speech, gross motor and fine motor play will be joyfully incorporated into the younger child's routine. I speak limited German and get a kick out of introducing German words and phrase to the children.
I am a safe, competent, licensed driver, with no moving violations. I am happy to drive your children in a car provided by you to ensure the quality appropriate for your family.
I am looking for a family in L. A. And would prefer 10-30 hours per week. Live-in might be possible.
