I am a NC licensed teacher with 9 years of classroom teaching experience. I have over 15 years of hands-on experience and training in the special education field. I am currently teaching a class for students with autism, I have been a special needs teacher for 9 years. I have focused mainly on working with children on the Autism Spectrum, but have also had experience with other disabilities and I am familiar with many common medical needs of children with special needs. I became a summer nanny while in high school and have continued to do this every summer for the last 14 years. I have lots of experience working with children with disabilities as well as typically developing children. I feel I have a special ability to meet the needs of all children and take advantage of natural teaching moments. One of my specialties is potty training. I have potty trained children ranging in ages from 1-year-old up to children in the 4th grade. I also incorporate sign language into communication development and use kinesthetic activities to teach. Teaching through play and motion helps children to absorb information more quickly and efficiently.
