My love for child care started at a young age. I began babysitting the various children in my neighborhood when I was 12 years old. I also cared for the pets in the neighborhood when families went out of town. Once in high school, I enrolled in the Early Childhood I & II courses and a parenting class. I learned a lot and became CPR certified. I participated in a co-op with a daycare in my senior year and continued my employment after graduating in 2001.
I worked as an assistant teacher helping out where I was needed between the infant room through the 3-year-old room. Shortly after, I secured a position in the 2-year-old room. We provided structured learning through daily activities and play, offered positive reinforcement and redirection, helped with potty training, enjoyed outside activities, and arts and crafts.
Next, I worked with a family for a summer as a full time nanny. I watched a 4-year-old, 10-year-old and 11-year-old.
I currently work with a family that I have been with for almost 3 years. When I started they had newborn twins and a 3-year-old (so now almost 3 and 6.5 years). I work 10 hour days from 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. From the beginning, I helped to implement sleep routines and daily routines. I help in potty training the kids, teaching them their names, oldest one her address and phone number. I took on all of the developmental tasks required when helping to raise children: tummy time, bottle feeding, transitioning from pacifiers and bottles to cups, crawling, walking, talking/some signing, etc. I am responsible for waking, dressing, feeding, brushing teeth, getting the oldest off to school, snacks, arts and crafts, lunch, nap time, picking the oldest up from school (walking as often as possible with the twins), play at parks, zoo, pet stores, museums, doctor appointments, house care (dishes, laundry, floors, etc.) I love working with children and find it very rewarding! I have welcomed them into my heart as my extended family, even picking the children up on unscheduled days at my request to take to different activities with me.
In my search for my next family to become a part of, I am looking for the perfect fit. I would like someone with the same ideals and willingness to work together with me as family involvement is equally as important!
