I have been a nanny for the past three years and have gained a lot of experience caring for young children. My background as a full-time nanny has consisted of caring for a 6-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy for two summers, and a 2-year-old girl this past summer. I have also done babysitting for family and friends for as long as I can remember, with children from infancy to the middle school ages, as well as, working in my church nursery. I am currently a college student at the University of Minnesota Duluth, studying psychology with a minor in health education. I have done volunteer work with many different ages of children at an elementary school in Duluth. There, I worked with children from challenging backgrounds. I also worked one-on-one with a little girl, helping her with daily lessons, counseling and giving her advice, and simply being a role model for her. I just completed a First Aid and CPR training course for infants, children, and adults where I learned about very important life threatening risks, illnesses, and prevention techniques, along with CPR, AED, and choking prevention procedures. I was lucky enough in high school to get the opportunity to be an Elementary Mentor for a 3rd grade class in Eagan. There I helped run the classroom alongside the teacher. I ran reading groups, graded papers, worked one-on-one with students, and taught lessons. It was the highlight of my year and made me realize that I want to pursue a career in teaching or child psychology. Children simply make me happy. I gravitate towards their unique personalities, innocence, and curiosity of life. I learn so much from them! I hope someday to be able to have a career where I can make a difference in their lives, too.
