I am 50 years old and the mother of two children, 21 and 18, both of whom are in college. I have been a Special Education Paraprofessional in the Millburn School District for the past 12 years, and have worked with children in every grade level, from kindergarten to fifth. I have worked with children with ODD, autism, aspergers, and downs syndrome. I assist teachers and administrators in the planning, development, and modification of instructional lessons for children with all learning abilities. In addition to participating in the development of a child's IEP, I ensure that the IEP is appropriately followed throughout the student's school year. The opportunity to get to know how a child learns, to help that child, and to watch him or her succeed, is why I am passionate about my profession.
