I realized I wanted to work with children my Junior year in college. I had an internship at MPS (Milwaukee Public Schools for 2 years) and was offered a FT position as a Bilingual Paraprofessional/Teacher. I worked with Special Education the first 2 years at the school. I worked with a 8th grade class for 2 years and I also worked with a 5th grade class the last 3 years at the school. I also mentored "at-risk" students on weekends and tutored 3rd grade students after school. I was a nanny to two little girls (separate families) as well for two 13+ years. I cared for the two little girls in the summer/spring/winter months when I wasn't teaching and they had begun the school year. I really enjoyed this part of my life because children to me are the essence of life.More ”
Working with children keeps me grounded and being around them guarantees a different day on the job. I look forward to seeing the children I work with on a daily basis. I am a child advocate and look for the best interest in every child. I believe every child is different and deserves a unique approach. I never give up on the children I work with. I am in their lives because I give their parents and the child my "word" that I will be. I enjoy watching children grow and feel that is the reason that I enjoy what I do. I believe in the values and morals that my parents instilled in me and have made me the person I have become today.
I am a nanny with a CPR/First Aid Certification with newborns/toddlers/adults. I have cared for newborns (4 families, 3 newborns, 2 toddlers) in previous nanny positions. I love what I do and do not consider my profession as a nanny "work." I enjoy everyday I have with the children I have cared for. I treat them, as though they are my own. I have taught my current toddler (age 2) Spanish (per parents request). It is a part of his integral day-to-day vocabulary and his parents love that he has come so far in the year and a half that I have been with them.
