I have been working with children ever since I was old enough to do so. I started out volunteering in a church preschool and helping out at a home daycare. From there, I progressed to working at summer camps, as a teacher's aide, tutoring and working in an after school care program. I have worked with children of all ages, from infancy to high school.

Several years ago, a family for whom I provided babysitting services invited me to work for them as a nanny and I fell in love with the job. There is something extremely rewarding about getting to focus your attention and energy on a small number of kids and be a consistent part of their lives. There is nothing quite like watching a child grow and flourish under your care and guidance. When my time with that family came to an end, I moved on to a similar position, and that they no longer have need of my services, I am interested in finding another family for whom I'll be a good fit. I have spent some time earlier this year working as a live in nanny and home health aide for a family with a 5-month-old baby, and I am providing infant baby-sitting services for several local families, so all of my skills in that realm are up to date as well.

I have a bachelor's degree in Special Education with a concentration in Sign Language interpreting. I also speak German and have a basic understanding of Cued Speech. I am up to date in my Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and AED training as well as my First Aid certification.

I love planning fun activities and field trips to take with children, and I don't like sticking them in front of the TV or video game console. I believe in the power of active play and in trying to take advantage of sunshine and great weather. I think it makes life way more interesting for both me and my charges to explore the world around us, and as someone who's a big kid at heart, I derive a lot of joy from finding fun new things to do in our environment.

Kids are my passion and my joy and I hope to dedicate my life to them. My current goals include going back to school for a second degree in special education once funding and time allow.

While I'm listed as only being willing to travel 30 miles away from home, that only applies to live-out positions. Live-in positions may be an exception.
