of Experience
Baby-sitting was my first job and I started when I was 14 - sometimes baby-sitting for a family of nine. After I graduated college with a Bachelor's in Psychology, I started work as a Therapeutic Staff Support person. In this position, I worked with children with Autism or other special needs and their families. I enjoyed this work very much (I think because I'm such a kid at heart!) but it did not offer the benefits I needed at the time. I continued to work with children and families in other capacities; as a mental health case manager and most recently, as a mental health/disabilities/education specialist for the Pre-K Counts and Head Start preschool families. In my most recent job, I had more one-on-one time with children and remembered just how much I loved it. I have experience with a variety of special needs, including behavioral health needs including Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADD/ADHD, ODD and bi-polar disorder in young children. I also have some experience with Cerebral Palsy and some rare genetic disorders.
