I have had opportunities, since my 6th Grade through 4th year High School, as a volunteer supervising and teaching lower grade kids covering for the homeroom teacher when meetings are in session. I found fulfillment in it. It was a good learning experience for me to develop different ways of holding on to the attention of some unruly kids by providing engaging activities. It also taught me tolerance. I have also provided care for three kids from their infancy to their preschool age, on two separate occasions. Comments have been given how I was a natural with children. Older kids were also inclined to hang around me, confide in me, or asked help with their assignments. Half the time I get the feeling that they seem to forget I am much older than them. They have become friends of mine to this day.

Even when I was managing a gift shop, kids from ages 5 to 17 tended to stay around and talk to me while their parents went on with their shopping in the mall. At the end of their stay, the kids leave me with a smile, and thank me for talking to them. This happened often enough for the next door Gift Shop owner to comment and say that I have an amazing natural talent with kids.
