I have raised 5 children, 4 are now adults and one is a minor (high school-age). Prior to working full-time, I did child care when my children were young. From time-to-time I also cared for twins. When my mother was living, we used to babysit together or would offset our hours by trading off with child care. I really enjoyed getting to meet the families and many times we became friends after they no longer needed our services. When I was a preteen and teenager, I not only helped my mother with caring for my 3 younger brothers so she could work outside the home, I also baby-sat for aunts and uncles or others outside of our family in addition to light housekeeping. I continued this until securing full-time employment and having a family of my own. I have been on both sides with having provided child care and also hiring child care for my own children while they were young. I am very aware of how important exceptional child care is, especially when you are trusting them with the most important people in your life. A parent is not able to do their best on their job unless they know they have someone they can fully trust and know will be dependable and loving toward their children.
