My own children are almost grown and I miss the fun of being around young children. My focus is on educational activities as each of my 3 sons have learning differences. I've been parenting for 25 years as I was a foster parent before I adopted my own. Actually, I've been babysitting since I was 12. Even then the neighbors were always asking me to babysit because I was so good with kids and so responsible. I believe in setting expectations and then giving rewards and consequences as appropriate. Consistency is also vital so I need to follow your lead so they see consistent house rules, rewards and consequences. In addition to all the fun, I like to teach life skills in every situation. For example, learning to negotiate with peers rather than to make demands is a skill that it takes years to learn. Teaching life skills would also include teaching a 3-year-old to make their own sandwich rather than to make it for them everyday. The sense of accomplishment, pride and self-esteem is great to see.

For many years I worked for a large accounting firm as I have a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. The truth is that being with kids is the most relaxing and fun time in my day. They say follow your passion and mine is taking care of kids. I don't want to be bouncing from home to home and kid to kid. Ideally I'd like to find a family I can be with for years.
