I'm Maria!

I'm 22 years-old and consider myself to be a child care professional! I absolutely love being around children of all ages and recently graduated a semester early from Wheelock College where I double majored in Human Growth & Development with a focus in Psychology and Elementary Education.

I've had 10 years of experience as a sitter. Throughout my time at Wheelock I've had four child/teaching centered internships that have provided me with the growth in experience of understanding children as well as teaching children. These internships include The Underwood After School Program in Newton, MA and another at the Ellis Memorial Toddler Program in Boston, MA. During these internships I've built strong communication skills with children. In my last two internships I completed my pre-practicum in Brookline, MA at the Lawrence School where I worked in a third grade classroom for 4 months. In my last year, I completed my elementary practicum in a combined first and second grade classroom in Cambridge, MA at the Graham & Parks Alternative Public School where I worked as a co-teacher for 5 months.

It is my goal to become an elementary school teacher. As a result of this, I'm constantly interacting with children and thinking of new and creative games, activities, projects and experiments to conduct. As a former college cross country runner, I have no problem keeping up with the active lifestyle of children.

Three words to describe myself would be energetic, fun, and friendly. Being with children is truly my passion and I'd love the opportunity to babysit!
