I started babysitting, outside of the family, when I was about 12 years old. Since, I have watched children between the ages of 3 weeks to 12 years old. I have also participated in and run many programs and organizations directed towards children, including: 8 years planning and leading in Vacation Bible School, organizing middle school retreats, tutoring and mentoring ages 3 to 11 at various schools in Central NY through high school and college. I have a 1-month-old niece I take care of multiple times during the week. I come from a family with 5 children where I am youngest, but we housed one of my mother's students and godson and I spent much of my childhood taking care of him. He suffered from lead poisoning as a baby and had multiple behavior and learning disabilities. I am used to dealing with lots of children at once.
My mother taught special education, so I have much experience with children with learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and mental retardation. I love kids. I am not afraid to run around and be silly with them. I have very flexible hours.
