I am the second oldest of 7 siblings and 22 cousins, so I have been changing diapers for as long as I can remember! One of my first jobs was as a shadow for a 13 year old girl with Down syndrome at a summer camp. I was a nanny for 3 kids in the summer of 2009. In 2010, I graduated from UMKC with honors and a B.A. in Philosophy. I took a handful of psychology classes there, including child psychology. I am currently finishing a year of service with AmeriCorps. I design and execute service projects for teenagers. This keeps me interacting with kids age 11-18, facilitating positive relations between teens, and working closely with teens to accomplish goals. I also volunteer teaching a weekly art workshop at a homeless shelter for kids age 5-15. I am working toward a position with the same organization where I would run an orphanage. I believe that every kid deserves a childhood, this includes not only meeting basic necessities, but having emotional and artistic needs accounted for as well.
