My name is Marcela and I am 18 years old. I am currently in my Freshmen year at Ventura College, and am planning on transferring out in 3 years to California State University Channel Islands to study Nursing. I enjoy exercising, running around with my 2 little nephews, singing at church and hanging out with my friends. While I was in high school, I participated in Theater Team and performed in 2 major shows including Dr. Seuss's "The Cat In the Hat: Horton Hears a Who." I was also a proud member of the Santa Paula High School Marching and Jazz Band, and I have played the clarinet for 8 years. A couple years ago I even learned how to play the bari-saxophone and fell in love with it. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family because they are the most important thing to me. I am First Aid certified and I previously worked as a Recreation Leader at the Santa Paula community summer camp for kids last summer, working with children 5 to 13 years of age. I nicknamed my group of 20 kids "Marcy's Marvels" which fit so well with my wonderfully unique nickname "Marvelous Marcy." Working at the summer camp was an amazing opportunity and I had the best time playing and being around those kids. I honestly can't say which age group of kids is my preference because I personally believe that all children, no matter what age, are great. It really warms my heart when I see these kids around town and they run up to me and give me the biggest hug. It is pretty awesome. I also have job shadowing experience working with preschool children, ages 2 to 4, at St. Sebastian Preschool for my former Human Services class in high school. I was able to create my own lesson plans for the kids and make some super cute and healthy snacks as well. Next, I have experience babysitting, as I have done since I was 10 years old. I have a really big family. There are actually 10 of us now and I have watched my younger sister and 2 nephews countless times since they were months old. My younger sister is 9 now, and my nephews are 5 and 2. I have also babysat for a friend's 3 kids, ages 2, 6 and 7. I used to watch them every weekend until their family moved out of town a couple months ago.
