I have over 4 years experience as a nanny & over 5 years combined experience as a K-2nd grade teacher & children's music teacher. I also have 2 years of experience caring for infants--newborn to toddler--with enthusiastic references readily available from these past positions.

I am originally from Colombia, SA, but grew up in rural Alaska on my family's organic farm. Post high school, I lived for 3 years in Australia where I earned my first degree in counseling, working as a counselor in a women's shelter in Sydney. I returned to Alaska & taught K-2nd grade in a rural Alaskan village, as well as targeting substance abuse among Native youth. I then returned to school to complete a second degree in English Education with a minor in Music at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, whilst working as a nanny for a family with 2 wonderful children.

My approach is firm but kind. I believe children thrive on security of structure combined with creativity & movement. I believe a child's mind is a fertile and precious thing not to be squandered on over-exposure to television. As a past music/piano/voice teacher and "wilderness child," I emphasize the daily importance of music, the arts, and the outdoors.
