I am a lover of children and pets. While earning spending money in high school and college, I taught swimming lessons to children, teens and adults (including physically challenged) from ages 6 months to 85 years. I also taught swimming lessons to nursery school children. You need to be patient and provide a fun and interesting environment to encourage their learning, which I was very successful at accomplishing. All the children I taught passed their Red Cross water safety requirements for their age group. My father is a retired veterinarian, and I grew up among a bevy of dogs, cats, birds, hamsters and other pets. I also worked at my father's animal hospital as a receptionist (and eventually the office manager) from age 14 to 18. I have three stepchildren who are now in their 30's and 40's, and eight grandchildren. I love being around them, their pets and my three rescue cats.
