After three years and 2 months caring for 2 children in Southlake TX, my employer had the fortunate opportunity to accept a part time position with her company and no longer needs my help caring for her two children. Though this was naturally surprising, I have viewed it as a fortunate opportunity for me, as well. One week before I was laid off I started two on-line courses in publishing and writing for children, and now (hopefully) will have the opportunity to get to know and love another local family. I am currently interested in seeking a nanny position, either full time or part time and am extremely flexible since my children are grown, my husband recently accepted a job overseas, and
I am by myself in our home with our two dogs and a cat. I love children, and have established a life long relationship with the children who were in my care. Their ages at the time I started were 18 months and 3 1/2 years, and now will be ages 5 and 7 in Dec. I have assisted with everything from toilet training, swimming lessons, learning how to ride bikes, learning how to read, (and establishing reading charts to mark progress), art lessons and projects, to monitoring food and snacks closely because of food related allergies.
My day started at 6:30 a.m. and most times ended at 6:30 p.m. Getting the children up and off to school, in two different areas of town, preparing boxed lunches, shuttling to swim team practices, swim meets, year round strokes lessons at the aquatic center, gymnastics, dance, football, afternoon pick-up, homework/projects, soccer practice, as well as all laundry duty, food/household supply shopping, and preparing and serving dinner were all part of my daily routine. I am very caring and also extremely neat and organized.
My love for reading progressed from reading to the children daily to their reading to me daily! Reading charts I created with them highlighted progress from Bob Books, to pre-K through 1st grade levels, as well as recognition of compound words, synonyms, homonyms, and contractions, and comprehension of the reading material. I also became a volunteer guest reader at NRH Montessori for each of their teachers. Of the many places we've been to together, The Ft. Worth Zoo remains our favorite of all! The importance of everyday life centered on respectfulness, manners, putting others ahead of ourselves, being polite, and the Golden Rule! Looking forward to hearing from you at Lois.
