I have been babysitting on and off for the last 8-9 years but have been unofficially involved in childcare for the last 16 years when my younger brother was born. Growing up in a close-nit community, watching and spending time with younger kids was a daily activity. I also grew up in a large family with 15 cousins, three of which have children between the ages of 1-5 who I get to care for when I am home in New Hampshire. Nine years ago I started babysitting for people outside of my family and neighborhood, starting with a5-year-old girl and3-year-old boy, whom I babysat on and off for two years. After this I babysat for a5-year-old boy and2-year-old girl for about two years, mostly during the summers. More recently I have been babysitting for a2-year-old boy a few times a month. During my past employment as a babysitter I would do everything from day trips to the beach or the outdoor pool, hiking or walks in the woods, trips to the park or just walks outside, late-nights, grocery shopping, errands and cooking, and cleaning and laundry depending on what the parents needed.
