I was the part-time nanny for my employer's son, beginning when he was 6 weeks old through the first year of his life and continued as an occasional babysitter. My ongoing relationship with him is very special, having seen him grow from the beginning of his life into the smart, active 4-year-old he is today.
My most recent work with children was during my trip to Peru this past winter. While in Pisco, I volunteered with an organization that is working to rebuild the city and the community after a 2007 earthquake. One of the things volunteers are needed for is assistance in the day cares throughout the city where the children range in age from 1-year-old to 16 years old. I spent a good portion of my 2 weeks in Pisco in the day cares and it was evident that the children greatly benefited from having us there. It was sad to see how they had been affected by the devastating earthquake, but also very fulfilling to see the positive influence that healthy adult relationships can have upon them.
I enjoy being a fun, nurturing role model in the lives of children and it amazes me to watch them grow and learn. I am an active, creative, warm individual and would like to play a caring role in a young person's life.
