My greatest experience comes from being a mother myself. My daughter is now a sophomore in an honors program. As a young girl, I took care of two younger brothers on a daily basis, in addition to babysitting for multiple families throughout my teen years. Professionally, I am a NY state certified elementary teacher and NYC Department of Education licensed substitute. Currently, I am also a graduate student working toward a Master's degree in special education. I have spent the last 3 years in and out of classrooms conducting observations and hands-on practice with students. I also spent 7 weeks/5 days a week in a 4th grade class and 7 weeks/5 days a week in a 1st grade class as a student teacher. As of September 2010 I have been a substitute teacher in grades K-5. I was also a teacher during the fall of 2010 for Snug Harbor Cultural Center where I created and conducted fun, educational lessons for students 2 yrs.-11 yrs old who came for field trips. I intend to continue getting educated and certified in multiple areas such as certification in teaching children whose first language is not English, a special education license, sign language courses, and CPR certification. It is my passion to teach and care for children. It is my hope that in the future I will have the opportunity to open my own preschool.
