I am a stay at home mom to my 14-month-old son and we live in Raleigh. I am available to care for children in my home. Up until I had my son last July, I was a state-certified kindergarten teacher in Cary. I have 7 years of total teaching experience and a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education. I have also worked 2 plus years in a 5-star daycare facility and I am currently the nursery childcare coordinator for my church. In addition, I have 8 years past experience working in a pediatric emergency room and was a medic for the military, so I am well prepared for whatever may come my way when working with children!

My son and I are very active, whether it is in the house or getting out to story time at the library, arts/crafts, music/rhythm time each day, lots of book reading, puppets, water play on our deck (have a baby pool and getting a small water table this week), playground/walking/feeding ducks at a local park, play dates with other children occasionally, trips to the farmers' market, swimming at a nearby pool (with lifeguards on duty), and other activities as they present themselves (i.e. Marbles Kids' Museum). If age-appropriate, I can work on preschool/kindergarten skills (name, numbers, letters, patterns, counting, etc.). My son and I are also learning a word in Spanish each week and learn basic sign language cues.

I do have several references and have had 2 background checks in the last 5 years (one for teaching in Wake County and one to work with children at my church). My driving record is clean (have no points on my license and have a new, safe mini-van). My husband is a nurse at Durham Reg. Hospital and would be around on his day off during the week. We are both non-smokers and have one child friendly dog, a black lab.

Children are people I really enjoy, they make me laugh daily. Those in my care tend to become just like a member of our family. I can't wait to meet yours!
