I found that it was difficult to find good care that was affordable for my own children and so I decided to offer to help out other parents who feel the same way that I have felt.

I teach so I am off when the schools they are off (holidays, summer, snow days, etc.). I am currently available on weekends, after school on week days, and full time during the summer.

I prefer to provide care in my home. The good news is that we don't have guns, soda, video games, or a pool and it's a very rare thing for us to even have candy or junk food. I wasn't always this limiting, but I've read a lot in the past few years and have made changes to try to keep my kids healthy and safe.

I am open to providing care at a flat rate (as in $40 for the whole night, etc.) or by the hour.

Really I just look at it this way: I know when I need to find childcare it is always so expensive that I will often chose to not go out at all. But for me going from 2 kids (my own) to 10 kids isn't a big deal since that is what my career choice is about.

We have season passes to Splashdown waterpark in Manassas. We garden, play sports outside, do puzzles, draw, read, play board or card games, spend time with the "farm" animals (chickens and goats), etc. This summer we plan to make regular trips to the library.
