In my previous job as a live-in nanny, I took care of two girls, ages 1 and 3. My hours were about 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. every weekday. I drove the 3 year old to school and also picked her up. When I returned home in the morning from dropping the 3 year old off, I took care of the 1 year old. I put her down for naps, made her snacks and lunch, and kept a watchful eye on her as she played about the house. I also engaged in activities with her and showered her with love. When time allowed, I did very light housekeeping and ran errands (mostly grocery shopping) if needed. Once we had returned from picking up her big sister from school, the three of us played until 4 p.m. when the parents took over watching them for the rest of day/evening. I also provided evening care (and overnight care) now and then when needed, usually this consisted of a weekly "date night" where the parents went out to dinner or a movie for a few hours.
