I have loved being around children since I was 11 years old. I have loved being around children since I was 11 years old. I think my favorite thing about children is their open-minded simplicity, and how usually it only takes a smile to become their best friend. From ages 11-16, I mostly only babysat occasionally, but repeatedly for the same families. When I turned 16, I began tutoring and was a part-time nanny on a regular basis. I have tutored ages 4-13. I have babysat ages 3 months to 10 years, and I have regularly nanny-ed for boys and girls ages 4-8. For the past 8 months, I have been employed as a full-time nanny/preschool tutor/house manager for a family of five, and I love it! It's the best job I could want. However, their son that I am tutoring in preschool right now will be going to kindergarten in the fall and I will be in need of another steady, full-time job such as this one. Right now my daily duties include organizing kids' rooms/closets, running errands (grocery store, etc.), cleaning (plus laundry), nanny-ing for a 4-year-old boy 9 hours a day, helping with homework, etc. when their other two grade school children come home, and just generally making the parents' lives easier on a day to day basis. I have never had a job I felt so qualified for that I loved so much. My strengths include meticulous cleaning and organizational skills, driving skills, tutoring skills, and an ability to thoroughly understand and relate to children of all ages. I am young, and still in college, but I am extremely experienced for my age, and my classes are entirely online so my schedule is also very flexible. My idea of my job description is this: when I find a family to serve, I intend to not only fulfill their daily needs such as errands, cleaning/organizing, playing with their children, etc., but also simply partner with the parents in whatever they wish to be teaching or instructing their children in at that moment. I believe a nanny should do two things in her very rewarding job: she should make the parents' lives easier on a daily basis, and she should partner with the parents so that they are a team in pursuing the children's mental, physical, social, and educational growth. This is obviously especially important in a full-time nanny position, because the nanny is with the children as much as the parents are themselves. The nanny should simply enforce the things the parents are already instigating. This is what I believe a nanny should be, what I strive to be like. I am an open, joyful, fun, & diligent nanny.
