My name is Lauren and I am 20 years old. I am going into my third year at Illinois State University; I am studying Elementary Education.

My experience first started at home. I am the oldest of four school aged siblings, now ranging from ages 6-10. Growing up with them has taught me what it's like to live with children and I know what a lot of young kids are interested in.

My senior year of high school, I student taught in two district 203 schools as part of a career program and got to interact with kids in small groups, one on one, and even was able to teach a few of my own lessons to the whole class.

Now, in my second year of college, I have observed a lot of children in a school setting and have volunteered a lot at our lab elementary school.

I am also part of group that serves to create social opportunities for children with special needs.
