About Me:
Hello, my name is LaTonia. I have worked in childcare for 10 years. I obtained my childcare hours in 2000 and 2001, and continue to obtain in-service hours as required by the state of Florida. In addition my first aid and CPR certifications are currently updated.
My passion is to help children develop to their fullest potential. My desire for working with children developed when I was a child myself. With my friends, I would make up lesson plans, activities, and give them homework assignments. Believe it or not, they were required to turn in their assignments for grading. Back then it was all for fun, but I knew someday those experiences would become a reality. Currently work in childcare in the young infant room, but also up to age four, and I also volunteered in the infant room at my local church.
I love to interact with children, by asking those questions that will encourage mind development. I also love to see children play through a process called "Hands on Learning". An example of "Hands on Learning" would be an activity of daily living such as cooking, dress up, art, music, reading , and interacting with each other to name a few. Infants can also benefit from "Hands on Learning". Some examples are motor skills (placing a child on the floor to see if they are able to roll over from front to back, and back to front, touching toes, etc.), and eye-hand coordination (picking up objects and their brain telling them to pick up the object with their hand).
