As a nanny/household manager/care giver/preschool teacher, I have enjoyed 15+ years with the families that I have been privileged to serve. My service experience includes a variety of settings such as: private homes, group settings with preschool facilities, churches, national organizations and 5-star plus hotel events. I have enjoyed working with children from diverse cultures and socio economic backgrounds, as well as children with various health issues. In, the late 1980's, I did volunteer work with children in a home for abused children also spending vacation time visiting an orphanage in Jamaica, in the mid to late 1990's.
It has been a great joy to watch and be a part of, the development process of each child, as they journey in discovery of themselves as well as the world around them.
I find it very rewarding as I seek to encourage, nurture and nourish the creativity and joy of learning, in the children I care for. My heartfelt desire is to challenge each one to be the best they can be, with the giftings and talents they possess. I believe it is important to affirm and value children, from an early age, in their individual personalities and expression, in order to train them to become a team player (a valued member of the family, friendships, classroom, etc.).
Although I have been unable to this point to pursue my deep passion for volunteer and humanitarian type work, it is my hope and deep desire to be able to get more involved, in fund raising. Through fund raising events I would seek to help those who need a hand up, in life... especially children; more specifically orphans and troubled youth! I especially enjoy heart warming films, as well as those based on true stories of the lives of people, who have been instrumental, in making a far reaching impact in the lives, of those they influence, ie "Homeless to Harvard", " Stand and Deliver ", "A Time To Heal", and "Music Of the Heart", to name a few!
