I grew up with an autistic younger brother and watched him while my mother worked nights as I got older. I have also watched a family friends daughter with down syndrome quite often. I did this while they were between the ages of 5 and 15. Working with and being around children with disabilities has helped me deal with other children who may have behavior issues since children with disabilities can be challenging at times. I now work as a tutor in an Indianapolis Elementary school, tutoring K and 3rd graders. I also work at another Elementary school at the after school care program and help run that with K-6th graders. We help with homework and plan activities and clubs to keep them occupied the remainder of the time. I am moving back to the South Bend/Mishawaka area the first week of May after I am finished with school. I am around children all day everyday and with babysitting my brother and family friends and working my current jobs I have a tremendous amount of experience with kids of all ages and that come from different backgrounds and home lives. I am going to school to become a Child Welfare Social Worker and love to be around children.
