Hello all,

I'm a nanny and babysitter with six years experience watching children in personal homes and as a preschool co-teacher. I'm live scanned, background checked, first aid and CPR certified, and have 6 child development units. I just graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and am now fulfilling requirements for grad school, which I plan to attend in Fall 2013 in Fullerton. I have watched children with special needs, multiples, infants, and have worked entire weekends while mom and dad went on a quick vacation.

Currently, I am looking for part-time work doing as-needed sitting such as a date nights now and then, or regularly scheduled sitting for work commitments or appointments. As a student, I am looking for extra work during the summer that could match up with your children's time off from school.

Caring for children, especially in hectic multi-children households puts me in my element. Picking up the kids, getting homework done, dinner time, chore time, clean up time and somehow managing to find the spare moments of quiet where you can really connect with the children and check in to see what their thoughts and feelings are sounds like an invigorating day to me. The kids are bickering over who gets the big green eraser, one needs his shoe tied while the other one needs adding fractions explained again. It all comes at you at once and you evaluate things quickly and respond efficiently and with kindness.

When things are less hectic, it is great to schedule a day with lots of free play (how else do you end up with couch cushion forts or tea time with dollies?), but also time for more focused activities like age appropriate math and vocabulary practice. I don't prefer workbooks because learning can often be more fun than that.

I always make it a priority to get on the same page as parents concerning caregiving style and standards so the children have consistent enforcement of the rules, priorities and values of the household.
