As a full-time single mother of an 8-year-old boy, I have had plenty of hands-on experience taking care of children. From the age of 10, I have enjoyed the privilege of caring for children of all ages. In high school and college, I babysat and been a nanny for young children and even tutored high school students and college kids (primarily in English and math). More recently, I have been helping out a family friend who recently lost his wife by caring for his two precious boys (a 3-year-old and an 18-month-old), doing his laundry and many of his household chores. He frequently travels, so I often stay overnight and get the boys off to their respective schools. Also, during the recent winter break, I cared for and entertained my roommate's two girls (ages 6 and 8) taking them to different parks, movies, and other fun places; staying in playing Legos and various board games, roasting marshmallows, and doing arts and crafts projects to give as Christmas gifts to their hard-working mother. I routinely help the girls with their homework and enjoy teaching them new things (we refinished a dresser together this summer).
