I have 25 years of experience directly involving children (from newborn through teenagers)! I had a small, Christian day care and preschool in my Wheaton home for about 12 years (1996 to 2008). I have worked in the newborn nursery at CDH, and I have children of my own. My youngest is 10! My husband and I were blessed to be licensed foster parents for the past 10 years (2001 to 2011). I am looking for one family's children to watch, in my Winfield home. I enjoy walking to parks, flying kites, hikes in the near-by forest preserve, serving all whole, organic foods, drinks (not microwaved or anything containing BPA), music, dancing, singing with instruments, reading many times throughout the day, quite a lot of arts/crafts and building projects (painting lessons-to provide children with experiences that stimulate and encourage their natural creativity), dress-up pretend theater, educational toys and puzzles, cooking/gardening class, age appropriate computer and language lessons. Even when the parents work, a child can have a second "family" in a home, with one (not multiple) caregiver, to establish and maintain that extremely important relationship of bonding/attachment (which when interrupted, can have negative effects on a child all his/her life), along with lots of love and one-to-one attention that will promote healthy relationships, and teach by our actions, respect, honesty, and love. We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet forget that he is already someone today.
