I have a B. S. in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies from Indiana State University. The courses included child/adolescent development and family dynamics. Currently, I am exploring my career interest in nutrition.

I have two years of experience as a nanny. The first family I worked for had a very imaginative 4-year-old girl. She and I enjoyed dramatic play, arts and crafts activities and outings to places like Science Central and the park. I am still in contact with this family and occasionally babysit for them.

My second experience as a nanny I cared for a 5-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy. I managed the children's busy schedule of activities which included gymnastics, sports, and education. Attending sporting events with children was a new experience for me. I found it very rewarding to be a supportive presence and cheer for my kids.

As part of my services to both these families, I provided light cooking and light housekeeping. I am willing to learn how to cook favorite family dishes. For one of these families, I went grocery shopping.

I have worked at two different child care centers for two and a half years. One of the centers followed The Creative Curriculum which focuses on providing experiences in cognitive, social/emotional, speech/language, and physical development.

My employment at these centers has helped me learn to identify children's strengths and assess their needs. This allows me to create experiences that build upon children's interests while promoting growth.

I am drawn to children because of their curious nature and limitless creativity. Every child is an individual who has value and special gifts. I want to be a part of children's lives to help ensure those gifts lead to a successful future.

I look forward to teaching children and recognize I have an opportunity to learn from them. While my experience is primarily with toddlers to young school aged children, if given the chance, I would be willing to work with older age groups.

I love being outdoors. Hiking is an adventure to me. I never know what I'll find along the trail and whatever I do find usually ends up on my camera. In addition to hiking, I stay physically active by jogging and weight training.
I like to be creative. I make collages using magazine pictures and recently finished one of a dolphin. The next collage I am making is in 3D.
