I have always loved being around children. I enjoy interacting with them, listening to what they have to say, watching them learn and grow, and teaching them new concepts.
I have a sister who is 10 years younger than I am so I grew up babysitting her. While in high school, I also babysat for various children in the neighborhood. When I was home from college during the summer, I worked at a children's center where I was responsible for a group of six to 8-year-old's who were participating in the center's summer camp. After graduating from college, I was a nanny in England for about eight weeks for my two cousins who were about one and three at the time. Upon my return, I was then employed as a lead teacher for a classroom of 2-year-old's at a children's center. I was also a substitute teacher for the center and would fill in for any teachers who may be out on any particular day. I subbed for various classrooms including the infant room, 3's, 4's, and after school classrooms. I studied Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Connecticut where I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree. For the past five years I was a social worker for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
