I have been a part-time nanny and tutor for the past 3 years. I am currently working for three different families with children of all ages.

Initially, I cared for a little boy starting when he was 3 weeks old. When he was 8 months old, we began going to local libraries and parks. We have met a wonderful group of stay-at-home moms and babies, and have since formed a meet up group to take the kids out for activities. We recently finished swim lessons, and he is now swimming like a fish! I taught him sign language when he was about 11 months old, and it is amazing to see him learn to communicate, even before he could speak. I have really enjoyed watching him grow up, and I'm very proud of the little boy he has become. It is very important to me to have open lines of communication with any family that I work with. I believe that this creates consistency for the child, and a unification among the caregiver and the parents. I also feel that it is also just as important to speak to the child throughout each day, pointing out passing cars, birds and airplanes in the sky, and why we don't climb on things. =) They understand much more than we think they do! My fiance is a private chef and I have spent the last 7 years learning to cook. I have used the skills that I have acquired to cook healthy (and toddler friendly!) meals. Additionally, I am a very active individual and enjoy sports very much. I love to mountain bike, surf and swim. I love the beach and spend a great deal of time in the ocean. It is important to me to stay healthy, and to teach the children that I care for to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. We took walks to the beach together every afternoon for the past 18 months. I am a college graduate with a Bachelor's in Psychology and I am finishing a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. My goal is to ultimately finish my degree and work with children and families in the mental health field. I am passionate about working with children, and look forward to finding another great family to work for.
