My experience begins with growing up in a large, very close extended family, constantly surrounded by children of all ages. At 14, I took a "babysitters course" offered by Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center and began babysitting nights and weekends for friends of family, family members and neighbors. Two of my neighbors had multiples; one family with toddler triplets and a newborn, the other with toddler twins and a newborn. After grasping confidence with multiple children, I went on to volunteer in the Universal Pre-Kindergarten class room at Lisbon Central, where I informally learned about child development and tending to individual child needs.
