I've worked in childcare for the past 6 years (as a nanny & babysitter as well as a daycare teacher). My most recent job was with a curriculum based school (Brilliant Start Academy) at which I started out as the art teacher, but due to my skills, was also asked to assist with the two Pre-K classes located at the school.
I found myself constantly being asked to work with the children with behavioral issues, as well as learning disabilities. I have a talent for reading a child and understanding and assessing their unique needs. I was an asset to the children and their parents as well as my bosses. I would often take personal time to put together learning activities to benefit the specific needs of the child.
After leaving to take care of a dying family member, friends of mine with children have taken advantage of my skills in order to help out with specific issues that their children were experiencing.
I am finally in the position to get back into childcare, and I can't wait.
