I have very much enjoyed working with children on and off since I was a teenager. I nannied over summers for family friends, as well as various hours spent caring for children of neighborhood families. In high school, I volunteered in elementary schools, facilitating reading and writing groups, as well as coaching sports teams and camps. In college, I worked at an after-school program helping out with science projects, arts and crafts, and teamwork games. I had many college courses in elementary education, child development, psychology, and communication disorders. I've also enjoyed my experiences working with three families with children with autism, helping to carry out therapy and respite care. They were challenging but rewarding experiences. I have spent time working various jobs such as a waitress or doing office work, but during these times I miss working with children and always find myself wanting to return to it. I moved out to California from Michigan to work in Outdoor Education with middle and high school students, and at a summer camp with 4-14-year-olds. I am thinking of returning to school for my teaching certificate, since I love working with children and helping them to learn and grow! It is always a fun and rewarding experience to work with children!
