I was a second generation preschool teacher. I taught preschool for almost seven years. I really loved teaching, but when I moved to Florida I decided to try something a little different. I have been a nanny for almost five years now. I love being a nanny. It lets me have a smaller number of children than teaching preschool and the flexibility to do more things. I get to have more personal time with the children in my care and I also enjoy the freedom of going on outings and that each day is different. My first nanny position was with one family. They had twins that were 6 months old when I started and a little boy that was 2. When those kids went to preschool a friend of mine introduced me to a mother that needed a day out. She also had several friends in the neighborhood that needed the same thing. That's how I started doing what I have been doing for 3 1/2 years. I didn't know if I would like it, but I really have loved the variety it adds to my life. I get to have one day with the kids and we go on whatever adventure they want to that day. Living where the weather is nice often we are outside a lot of the time. I have become very close with the children and their parents in the families I have worked for, and still work for most of them. However, the kids are getting older and I am not needed for work as much, so I would like to add some new families to the mix.
