I'm a 30-year-old costume designer that offers child care on a part-time, flexible basis (my availability depends on the week). As the oldest of 6 children, my childcare experience started really young! I began babysitting for other families at the age of 10, continuing into my university years when I also worked at a daycare. After graduating from the University of Georgia I worked as an au pair (nanny) for a French family. While working as a nanny in Paris I spent much of my time as the companion of a 7-year-old girl. I planned, supervised, and participated in all of her weekly activities outside of school, which ranged from afternoons playing in the park or creating craft projects to play-dates with her friends or outings to the swimming pool. In addition to being a playmate and activity coordinator, I was also responsible for coordinating with the parents and housekeeper while performing general nanny duties, including overall supervision of three children, family errands, and dinner preparation. I provided homework help to all three girls and though the majority of our day-to-day interaction was conducted in French, we also worked together on English vocabulary and conversation skills, mostly through songs and games. I loved working with the girls and I still keep in touch with the family. After returning from Paris I worked as a French tutor and French teacher at private high schools. I had several students with learning difficulties and behavioral issues, including dyslexia and ADHD. As a teacher I enjoy the challenge of finding the best manner of instruction based on the particular learning style of each person and watching the students progress in their language skills and self-confidence. In 2009 and 2010 I taught English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) in Barcelona, to both children and adult students. I also cared for two boys, ages 4 & 6, as a babysitter/tutor. I picked them up from school, played with them, and carried out normal babysitter duties as I spoke to them in English and furthered their grasp of the language. Because of my varied childcare and teaching positions I have cared for anywhere from one infant to a roomful of children at a time. Whether creating fun games in order to teach vocabulary, caring for an infant, playing pretend with 3-year-olds, explaining song lyrics to 12-year-old's, or playing tag in the park with a crowd of 7-year-old's, I thoroughly enjoy interacting with and teaching children of all ages.
