I have just begun my journey in child care. This summer, I so luckily had the privilege of watching a spunky little 2-year-old. Unfortunately her mother decided that it was time to socialize her with more children of her age, so off to nursery school she went!

I believe our younger generation is shifting more toward a life remotely consisting of long drawn out hours in front of the television, while gravitating towards social separation. What happened to coming home from school to play and explore outside with the neighbor kids until dusk?

I guess what I'm getting at is, that I like to pay homage to the fundamental values of child development; hands on activities and experiences that enrich a child's sense of wonder.

I've learned so much from the 2-year-old and her burning desire to explore, touch and listen to things we take for granted everyday. I think we can all benefit immensely from taking the time to look through a child's eyes.
