I am 22 years old and a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas, majoring in Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology. I would like to consider myself as having over 10 years of experience working with children, considering I have two younger sisters, ages 11 and 12. However, I officially became a caregiver when I became the nanny of a family of 4 at the age of 16. I was their nanny for 3 years while I was in high school. After moving to the Dallas area in 2009 for college, I began working at a preschool as an administrative assistant. I was responsible for running the school in the afternoons and was constantly in and out of classrooms with children ages 6 weeks to 13. Working at the preschool I obtained over 40 hours of training and became CPR certified. I worked there for a year and a half before making the decision to concentrate more on school. Throughout the years I have babysat periodically for many families and have great references. For many of the families I am considered their "regular babysitter", babysitting when I can on days off, evenings, and weekends.
I am comfortable working with families of all sizes and all ages. Children are my passion and I have always been considered to have a "motherly" nature.
I am really enjoying my program in the field of Speech and Language Pathology at UTD and will graduate with my undergraduate degree in May of 2013. I will then continue on at UTD with my masters and become a Pediatric Speech Therapist. I am currently looking for positions that will help give me experience in the field.
