Children are and have been an important part of my life for over 10 years. I've been caring for children in home and school environments since I was 13 years old. During junior high, I assisted the special education department of my school, in caring for and tutoring children with profound mental disabilities. At 17, I assumed primary care of my 1-year-old nephew, and during high school worked with RESA Head Start in West Virginia, as a classroom aide. During college, I worked for Energy Express by AmeriCorps as a student mentor, and recently left a position as a child care provider and housekeeper in order to relocate. I spent over a year working as a live-in baby sitter and housekeeper. I have worked with and cared for children as young as newborns, and up to 9 years of age, including some with learning and developmental disabilities. I firmly believe that all children deserve equal and loving care, as well as a comfortable and enriching environment in which they can grow and learn.
