Greetings Parents & Guardians,

My name is Katherine, as a sister, daughter, and aunt I understand the struggles and responsibilities that a guardian/parent has in taking care of a young one in this world; I truly understand the amount of energy and time that it takes to find and connect with a sitter/nanny. I guarantee that I too will put the same exact energy, time, and effort to make sure that I am a good fit for your family. In order to do so, I ask of the parents to allow a try out day only for a few hours, the child and I with the parent nearby (in other room) so the child can also have a good sense if s/he is comfortable and so can I.

My experience with children has been different from babysitting and teaching bible class to children (from infants to 6 years old). Understanding that a child's mind is a world of imagination, wonders, joy, and of learning (which can be from recognizing the sound of a cow). As a support worker out of the nanny field, I connect with stroke survivors. Whom are basically gaining back their knowledge that they have lost from the result of the stroke. We both work from the very beginning (depending on the client) from writing, adding, and awareness of one's own body and mind. An infant is learning of their own movements and how loud their voice can get. A child is beginning to recognize and identify their surroundings. An adolescent, is beginning to look further out the box of their surroundings, wanting to explore and set goals.

We as adults and once children are continuing to learn about ourselves everyday of our lives. I been around children since the age of 12, having to take care and attend to my youngest brother along with my 12 nieces and nephews through out the years. Truthfully having 15 years of experience, I realize that I continue to learn so much about children, and how each and everyone of them are unique.

As a graduate student, and as an attendant at a center, I have learned more about myself and how much I can do to help others; from elders, adults, to children. This is one of the reasons why I would like to continue to work with children, and bring in a more mindful approach towards their learning and connection to what is now in their surroundings, community, and in their lives

I believe using the tools from art, dance and music can assist a child through their growing experience into this world of life. I hope I can have the opportunity to be part of your child's learning and insight.
