I am an experienced nanny moving to the Santa Cruz area in mid-August to attend UCSC. I am hoping to find a family or two who need part-time care and/or date-night and weekend availability.

I have over 10 years paid child care experience, 5 years in a preschool setting (including 2 years as the lead certified preschool teacher of a child development center and director of a daycare center), plus 4 years as a nanny. I am a certified preschool teacher and newborn care specialist. Because of my experience as a preschool teacher, I can also help families create individualized weekly curriculum based on your child's preference and needs. I am extremely cognizant of developmental milestones and I have an arsenal of fun and exciting activities and adventures to help children reach these milestones. I also know and I am a big believer of baby sign language to help lessen the frustration young children feel when they are not able to successfully communicate their thoughts and feelings. I am comfortable with different parenting philosophies and strive to emulate your philosophies and schedule.

I absolutely love my job. I also recognize the importance a nanny/babysitter can have on young ones and take this responsibility extremely seriously. I do not turn on the television when I am there (even if parents don't mind TV), and plan awesome adventures in which children can have fun and learn at the same time. I believe my role as a nanny or babysitter is to help young children become prosperous, socially aware, and conscientious people. Children learn through their surroundings and world, and I believe it is my role to create a safe and nurturing world in which to explore. I like to take young children to the playground, academy, the zoo, beach, story time, music time, rec centers, the grocery store, etc. My goal as a nanny is to help the family as much as possible with their household needs.

I have years of potty training experience. I can cook organic, healthy baby and toddler food (and always leave the kitchen cleaner than when I started), and am more than willing to do baby-related housekeeping (laundry, kitchen clean-up, etc.). I also have a car and am more than willing to do personal assistant jobs (dry cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.), although I prefer to not drive children (riding the bus can be such an adventure).
