I've watched many children over the past few years. I began with my four cousins who then ranged from 5-10 and whom I still currently babysit. My junior and senior year of high school I attended South Technical High School for child care. The program would have us in a classroom two weeks out of the month while the other two were spent in the child care area with children aged 2-6. We learned about how children grow, how their brains work and all about how they development. We also learned about healthy eating habits and fun play time activities. While working with the children we practiced leadership skills by planning activities, preparing snack and leading in group time which involves singing songs and reading books to the children. We also practiced appropriate ways to discipline children for bad behavior and techniques to help children relax and fall asleep during nap time. Before graduating we also designed CDA binders which obtain information on health care providers in the area, fun activities, the food pyramid and healthy eating along with much more. Throughout the entire summer of 2011 I babysat full time. I first babysat two children whom were 3 and 5. I then went on to babysit three other children who are 2, 7 and 3.
