Throughout my middle school and high school years, I babysat for several families with children ranging in age from newborn to around 11. While studying at the University of Michigan, I had a work-study position through Jumpstart, a nonprofit organization, in which myself and a team of fellow students visited high-risk preschools and spent time playing with the children and reading with them in order to aide the teachers in strengthening their literacy skills. Also, during the summer of 2010, I held a position in the infant classroom at the University of Michigan's Children's Center, helping the classroom teachers in taking care of the infants there, who were mainly children of students and faculty members. I currently hold a full time position at the University in Educational Research, and I am looking to make some extra money through babysitting in order to be able to afford a new car and pay off student loans, while I try to decide what I would like to go back to school for at some point in the future.
