I work for a number of families, but they are mostly on an as-needed basis. So, I was looking for a job that would fit with my schedule and not interfere with my school work. I saw Ali's job posting and applied to the job. We emailed back and forth a couple times to work out a time to speak over the phone (which I was very quick to respond to the emails). I spoke to her over the phone and was still interested in the job for a face-to-face interview. The day the interview was set up, I was babysitting for a family and thought that the time of the interview would not interfere with either commitment. Unfortunately, the day of the mom was running late. I texted Ali letting her know that I was running behind and her response was, "Ok thanks for letting me know." I hate being late and apologized when I got to the interview. I have found that parents like to have references for their caregiver(s), so I made sure to bring a list references with me to give to Ali, even though she hadn't requested them. When she returned from her trip, Ali called me and I didn't have a chance to call her back at an appropriate time. She then emailed me a couple days later. I was juggling many thing and my schedule and trying to make everything work. I should have let her know this in a more timely fashion. The day she wrote the review, I had logged on to my Care. com account and was in the process of writing a response to her call/email, when I had to attend to the needs of the child I was caring for that day (later that day she posted her review). I was not by any means ignoring her attempts to contact me. I later wrote her an email apologizing and explaining what had happened. I don't feel that my reliability, maturity and follow-through should be put into question. I work for families that would say that would give me a high recommendation to others. I learned from this experience to at least send a short email saying I would need to get back to the person at a later date.
