I started my career in child care at the age of 18 with the district that I graduated from. I taught a cheer class with a summer enrichment program and was responsible for children between 3rd and 8th grade. While a student at the University of Texas at Austin, community involvement was required and I chose to mentor bilingual students. I tutored a 5th grade class whenever home for vacation and a Pre-K class during my final semester. I enjoyed working with children so much that I applied to work at a children's shelter after graduation. I worked with infants and school aged children in a direct care setting and took part in multiple trainings that give me a unique background in child care. In addition to this, I worked at a local non-profit organization that offered free parenting classes to families of children with disabilities. I offered direct care and assisted in teaching a few of the classes. I was recently accepted to TWU's Counseling and Development Master's program and am looking for a family to work with while I earn my degree. I am energetic, creative, know how to set boundaries, and am a firm believer that there is no such thing as a "bad" child.
