Karen T.

I am not sure I know where to begin...Karen has been more than a blessing for us and our little girl. I am a first time mom and a very protective and cautious one. When it came to finding a sitter I was so nervous. When I found Karen on Care.com and she wrote me back, I knew instantly she was going to be the perfect fit to care for our daughter. Not only did she respond with every bit of information I could ever ask but she was also an open book to anything I asked. When we went to meet Karen and her family we were amazed at how clean and well kept her home was. It is the perfect "kid zone." Every closet you open is filled with wonderful things for the kids to do. This is truly not a place where you drop your child off and they watch T.V. all day. Karen does something new and exciting with them everyday. From crafts to dress-up, she has anything a child could possibly want to do. Karen is also very diligent about making sure that ALL of the toys and playthings are disinfected and germ free which is not something you find everywhere. She has a place for each child to take a nap (in peace and quiet) so that each child gets their proper naps in. Not only is the inside of her house fun, but her backyard is set up just for the kids. They have a play set and tons of outdoor toys. No one could ever get bored at Mrs. Karen's :) Then there is Karen's wonderful family. Her husband is kind and wonderful with the children as well as her sons. Her three sons are more than caring and amazing with all of the children. They have such big hearts and caring personalities. They love playing with the children and all of the kids absolutely adore and look up to them as well. These boys are the most well rounded and kind young men I have met. You can truly tell they come from a great home. To top it all off, Karen makes sure to always keep open communication with all of the families she cares for. She sends notes home with all of the children, detailing what they have done for the day and what they have eaten. I look forward to Karen's notes. Karen is always in touch and involved with each child and making sure she cares for them like they are her own. You can truly see the love she has for children and families in general. I have never felt like I couldn't come to Karen with any needs that we might have. I am a nursing mother and she has been more than accommodating. There is nothing more important than peace of mind and trust when it comes to leaving your child in someone else's hands and I have this with Karen. I will say it over and over again, she is beyond a blessing and we are so grateful to have her as our caregiver for our little one. She is irreplaceable.

Karen is an amazing caregiver to my son who is 18 months old. He started going to her house at 9 weeks and has practically become part of her warm and loving family. She also used to watch my twins who are now 5. I first met Karen when I was 6 months pregnant with my third child, and she presented me with a packet full of information and references -- all which were helpful in understanding her services. Karen's house is immaculately clean and ready for any child newborn to teen, and she keeps them busy and entertained with crafts, lots of outdoor play and a finished basement full of toys. She does a great job keeping all mothers well-informed of their children's activities, diet, and daily activities via daily notes, conversations, and occasional phone call during the day saying "he just learn to do xxx." Karen is also very adaptable and open-minded. She accepts different diets, routines and is willing to learn. She's willing to administer medicines with instruction (e.g. breathing treatments) and is open is to new languages. For example, I brought in our baby signing DVDs and she let the kids watch it and tried to encourage it, and when I brought in Japanese language worksheets for my 5 year olds, she worked with them (even though she doesn't know any Japanese). Another benefit to Karen's home is her 3 wonderful sons. They are unlike any young men I've ever met. I never thought teenage boys would take the time to bottle feed my baby or get down on the floor to play with them, or even take the kids sledding on snow days. But these boys truly inherited the caregiver attitude, and it's a huge plus for my kids. Great role models and big brothers. All my children have been blessed to know Karen and her family. They have never once complained about going there (or me leaving them). She gives me great peace of mind when I'm at work, because I know the kids are very happy under her care.
